Economic Stimulation?
Thinking about all the processes of the economy where taxes apply makes me feel ill:
Gathering raw materials for the product - all employees are taxed on their income and so is the business
The assembly plant - all employees are taxed on their income and so is the business
The wholesaler - all employees are taxed on their income and so is the business
The storefront - all employees are taxed...

Diary of a Player
Well I had the pleasure of picking up a digital copy of Brad Paisley’s Diary of a Player this past weekend and it was a refreshing read for someone who alternated back and forth between reading software engineering forums, survival manuals, and intense musical theory books. For anybody who has any interest in Brad Paisley at all this book tells the heartwarming story that is Brad...

New Job
On May 23rd 2011 I finally had a way to leave a horrible position and move on to what has been my dream job as a Problem Solver / Software Engineer at Patchcord.ca Inc. Better yet — I received paycheques from two employers during my transition month of June. Win!

New Guitar
On December 4th 2011 the unthinkable happened. Jen and I had to helplessly watch in horror as my acoustic guitar fell to the floor and snapped it’s neck. After much reading and investigation as to whether it could be fixed it came down to the fact that the guitar would never be the same so I was forced into an early upgrade (not to say I’m complaining). Our home’s humidity is...

Lamothe Family Reunion
On July 29th 2011 the Lamothe family held their annual family reunion at Jen’s Uncle Don and Aunt Sue’s home on Lake Ramsay in Sudbury. We had lot’s of fun hanging out singing songs and eating until our guts burst. The whole weekend we were blessed with perfect weather (which was a nice change from last year when we got hit by a Tsunami while camping out overnight on Jocko...

Brad Paisley ft. Eric Church
On July 7th 2011 Jen and I along with a couple friends finally got to see one of our favourite artists: Brad Paisley. As an added bonus the opening act for Mr. Paisley was Eric Church — another one of our favourite artists! We had a lot of fun being part of the Social Media Suite. Our only job was to write Twitter posts about the show while it was taking place. Jen and I had our private box...

Jen and her Mom graduate together
On June 8th 2011, Jennifer and her mother Linda both graduated on the same day. How many mother-daughter duos can say they’ve had that priviledge? Jen graduated from Teacher’s College and Linda received her Master’s in Education. What a bunch of braniacs!

[Feb 14 2011] Update
Hey all,
I very much enjoy bringing you the tutorials I’ve been making an effort to write as of late. However life caught up to me as usual and I am a little swamped at the moment. For one I am finishing up a course of algorithm analysis which is hogging most of my time (or at least should be). Outside of the educational realm I’m trying to get re-integrated into the open source...

Java 1.5.0 - Varargs
Here something interesting I just discovered in the 1.5.0 release of Java: varargs. Basically the ability send a variable number of arguments to a method. No longer must we define our methods to accept arrays!
Here’s a quick sample I put together to demonstrate the concept:
Main.java:
public class Main {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("countArgs(5,...
